Date Night : Oz, The Great and Powerful

This was posted on 3/13/13 and has since vanished.
Reposting it now.
(For today's actual post, view it here)

Saw Oz last night!
I'm getting spoiled with these recent date nights we've been having!
It was such a great night and a wonderful movie!
I thoroughly enjoyed it and will probably be seeing it again with my mom.

In case you've been hiding under a rock, Oz, The Great and Powerful is a prequel to the classic movie, The Wizard of Oz.  It follows how Oscar Zoroaster Phadrig Isaac Norman Henkel Emmannuel Ambroise Diggs (better known as Oz) arrives to the magical Land of Oz.

It's a great backstory and I thought the casting was dead on!

James Franco pulled off the sleazy, sneaky Oz character perfectly!
As does Mila Kunis, as the beautiful and "heart on the sleeve wearing", Thedora!
And Rachel Weisz as her gorgeous older sister, Evanora.

And although I'm not a huge fan of Michelle Williams, she always seems to deliver.
She is as mesmerizing and as beautiful as Glinda always seems.

China Doll (Joey King) kicks butt (and is totally adorbs!) and who doesn't want their very own Finley (Zach Braff)!

We won't talk about the flying monkeys baboons...
As if you weren't terrified of them from the original, Disney made them even more frightful.
There's a few times I actually jumped.
Ridiculous...

P.S.  I think my husband was a little too excited when he saw that Bruce Campbell was in it.
It went well with his "Army of Darkness" tee he sported last night ;)

As any Oz fan would, you find yourself comparing to the original classic.
Try to avoid that.  I did.
 Nothing will ever compare to such a classic,
so why set yourself up for disappointment before even entering the theater?

Although, this movie was pretty fantastic, in my opinion!
(The added humor was a nice bonus!)
If you don't agree, think back to the horrendous, Return to Oz.

Without giving away too much, I'll leave you with this:

The special effects were outstanding, and the storyline was so believable in regards to the original!

And I loved the traces to The Wizard of Oz throughout the film.

(Such as the movie being set in black and white in the beginning!)

 :)

Nice play, Disney!

I cannot wait to see it again!

And there's already a word of a sequel?

**SQUEAL**

Saturday Walk

Are you a visual person, like me?
If so, then this post is for you!

::insert info commercial here::

I'm letting the photos do most of the talking today ;)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Since we had the whole day together, we definitely made the best of it!
When we woke up, together (for once!), we were starved but way too lazy to cook.  So we showered and hopped in the car and headed to a little breakfast joint.
It was such a nice change, for once.
Instead of sitting on our couch, watching tv, with plates on our laps, we sat in a booth, with a table and napkins, silverware and were served upon.
Oh the joy!
HE HE!
 These were one of the best links I've ever had!  And crepes... I'm always all over crepes...  Can't get these at home!  (Mainly because every time we have attempted making them (let's get real here: about once or twice), they were not crepes... So we'd end up with pancakes)
After breakfast, M got his hair trimmed then we headed to that forest preserve I ran off to a few weeks ago.
With the snow, it made it such a gorgeous sight.
Here's what I was wearing:
{Outfit Details}
Skinny Jeans:  Thrifted
Cardi:  Target, Thrifted
Undershirt:  VS
Wizard of Oz Tee:  Out of Print
Boots:  Madden Girl, gifted
Scarf:  DIY (hope to bring this style into the shop)
 I was obsessed with how blue the sky was!!!!!!  It was beyond gorgeous!
After we I froze my fingers off from snapping photos (which was only about fifteen minutes later), we took off to have a coffee date.
My bag always gets a showcase:
 This face charms the pants off of me every time...
 Starbucks never asks for my name!  I was so shocked!  But I saw the barista stumble when I spelled out my name to her.  And it shows... She's missing the "d" after the "A".  That's ok... I still loved the fact that they asked for once!
Can you guess what my order was?
On Pinterest, there was a SNICKERS FRAP!
I'm still trying to perfect it... But this one was pretty fantastic!
How to order:
Java Chip Frap, with one pump toffee nut, one pump caramel with carmel drizzle.
How flippin' adorable is this woman's cup?  She had Mike Wazowski, Thumper and a few other Disney fellas on there.
Hey, hey Good Looking!
Love these hands of mine...
Doesn't he have such beautiful eyes?
Ignore the fact that he looks like he's in "work mode".. Ha ha :D
How terrible.. We're both on our phones...
I promise you there was a lot of communication and even a visit from Matt's bestie ;)
After that, we went on our way to Brody's First Birthday Bash!
It was great seeing the family!
The Sparkly Maxi Skirt + Friday Night Date
Anyone else been seeing the transformation of the maxi skirt/dress being brought into the winter?
I've been loving it and decided to give it a whirl!
I paired it with this emerald green sweater and mint bubble necklace.
I was so relaxed and comfy yet I still felt feminine.
{Outfit Details}
Sweater:  Target Merona - clearanced
Skirt:  Kohls, Apt. 9
Bubble Necklace:  Sassy Steals
I kept it simple because I had a date that night.  I didn't want to appear as if I was trying too hard ;)
We had Panera together, then played with some balloons and pretended we were photographers.  We ended the night, cuddling on the couch, watching The Princess and The Frog.  He passed out before I could say "Goodnight" though.
He wanted to be the photographer, while I played "model".  I was flattered.
His Furby got inbetween us, though.  I'll admit it, I was a little jealous.  But he let me feed it.  So that was pretty cool.
Needlesstosay, I think it went well.  I was lucky enough to see him the very next day for my niece's birthday bash, but I really hope he calls for a second date. I keep checking my messages; nothing yet. I'll keep my fingers crossed. ;)
My Zombie Valentine
I can't believe how many photos I just uploaded from our date... And these were the ones made after the cut!
I couldn't decide.
Don't make me choose.
Just warning you of the photo overload you are about to encounter.
Our Matching Shirts, yay!
Wait... She said, "Whhhaaattt!?"
Love bites.
You cannot wear these shirts without having these kind of outtakes...  Just sayin'... They are kind of expected.
{Outfit Details}
Zombie Shirts:  SnorgTees
Gray/Black Tank:  VS Pink
Leggings:  LC
Black Cardi:  Express, gift
Headband:  LittleLoveTales
Fringe Boots:  LC
Matt's "Holey" Hoodie:  AE
Matt got soup, too.  But it's not shown.  Yes, I got two soups.  I'm a Soup Nazi.  Just so you know, I was set on the french onion before we even arrived... Then Matt just had to ask what the soup of the day was.  BIG MISTAKE.
Cream of Onion was one of them.  Whhhaaatttt??  What is this goodness you speak of and how is this the first time I'm ever hearing of this soup?  I believe I became very rude and interrupted my husband to tell the waitress to add that soup to my order.  Whoops.. :D
P.S.  It was worth it...  Holy deliciousness...
This makes me giggle because the cheese on his burger kind of matches his shirt.....  A little bit...  You see?  The drips?  Don't lie.
Wave to Judy!  I always smile and say "hello" when I see her.  (No, not out loud... I don't need people asking questions....)
Mmmmm....  Movie Theater Snacks.
Although pretty delicious, going to the movies is ridiculously expensive!  I told Matt we need to go back when the movies have been long but forgotten that they end up being only $5 to see. :)
Except, I will be paying full price when this comes out:
You know it as well as I do that Oz, the Great and Powerful is going to be insanely amazing!
I already have plans to see it multiple times... So it might be a good idea to start saving now.... ;)
Other movies I'm excited to see:
And our movie choice for the night:
(Wasn't it obvious with the shirts?  Unless you have been reading my blog.. Then you knew we planned on this already)
M and I really enjoyed this movie.  He heard it was to be a modernized Romeo and Juliet.  And I liked that analogy.  It was super adorable and I am wanting to see it again :)
I'm not going to lie... I almost cried a few times.
I can't help it.
I'm turning into a sensitive cry baby.
And since it's Valentine's Day, I thought I'd share what I did for Matt:
Did the famous sharpie mug pin from Pinterest.
We agreed not to exchange gifts and that our shirts and our date were enough.
However, I know how it feels to be appreciated and Matt deserved a little something, something.
He should be happy to know I didn't spend a dime.
We had everything lying around the house already.
Which made it the perfect little gift.
I had it waiting for him by our Keurig for when he woke up this morning.
(He loved it and enjoyed two cups of coffee out of it already)
 Then I come home to this:
Well, I didn't make popcorn, nor watch The Notebook.
(I'm a terrible wife!)
But I did consume more Oreos than I probably should have.
 On a serious note, I posted this on Facebook today and only felt it was worth repeating:
Well, God, it's been eleven years since Grandma received her invitation to Heaven. Such a beautiful soul to take, I must say. I hated you for it but knowing she went peaceful made the pain a little easier. After I stopped being so stubborn, I realized she was reunited with her soulmate... And now one of her daughters. And I realized that I would want that too. Because you gave me the greatest gift of all... My one true love, my soulmate, my husband and I couldn't bear the thought of being without him. So, thank you. Thank you for making love possible. I think my Grandma would be proud ♥
